Following a 48-hour marathon coding session, Minecraft creator Markus “Notch” Persson released a top-down action game on Sunday night that you can play for free.
The NES-style game Minicraft is reminiscent of Notch’s famous free-to-play game: Controlling a featureless avatar, you can chop down trees, mine rocks and fight monsters in a procedurally generated world. According to the Objectives screen, your main goal is to kill the Air Wizard.
You can either download Minicraft or play it in your browser.
Persson developed Minicraft as part of Ludum Dare, a contest in which designers are given two days to draw, code and score an entire game to completion. Just thinking about it sounds exhausting.
