Wired lobby

A massive, marble reception desk used to stand in every floor's lobby at 4 Times Square. But the receptionists were all let go as the media business imploded in the summer of '09. Now, there's a phone directory and a not half-bad sitting area where some employees even retreat to make a quiet call.

NEW YORK — Yeah, we know: You’ve been dying to see what it’s like at Wired. Well, I can help you with that.

The really cool office space for Wired is in San Francisco, home of Beer Robot, Gadget Lab and Most Dangerous Object. Maybe the San Francisco staff will correctly take this as the smackdown it is from the gangstas at Wired’s New York bureau to show us how they roll.

But on only a slightly more serious note, we are about to embark on a little project to do some behind-the-scenes galleries at the working spaces of tech domains — that’s offices, not websites — and we thought we’d show ours before we ask you to show yours.

So as you try not to think about going back to your office after this weekend, spend a little time in ours.
