Apple Profits Continue Unrelenting Rise, Thanks to Hot iPad and iPhone Sales

Apple continued its seemingly unstoppable stellar financial results over the last three months, pulling in nearly as much revenue in those three months as Google does in a year.

The Cupertino hardware and software giant is on the march to become the world’s most valuable company. It exceeded analyst’s expectations for this quarter as the iPhone sales were up 142 percent year over year. Meanwhile, the continuing popularity of the iPad also contributed to Apple making a profit of $7.3 billion on revenues of $28.6 billion for the third quarter of its fiscal year, which ended on June 25.

Acer’s offering is plain vanilla—unspectacular but reliable. Hardware-wise, other than a jumbo 10.1-inch screen, it differs little from other high-end Android tablets: HDMI-out, front- and rear-facing cameras, and a drab exterior that doesn’t offend but won’t set design nerds’ pulses racing. The software, however, was the most reliable in our test. We didn’t suffer a single browser crash, and the Nvidia dual-core processor ran even resource-hungry apps like WeatherBug and Need for Speed: Shift without a hitch.

Feds Arrest 14 'Anonymous' Suspects Over PayPal Attack, Raid Dozens More

Federal agents arrested 14 suspected Anonymous members Tuesday on charges of participating in denial-of-service attacks against online payment service provider PayPal.

Five additional suspects were arrested overseas — one in the United Kingdom and four in the Netherlands — for related crimes. The UK arrest was reportedly of “Tflow”, a former member of the hacker group LulzSec, identified by police as a 16-year-old male.

The majority of the individuals were allegedly acting as part of Anonymous, a loosely connected group of online griefers who took credit for denial-of-service attacks last year...
